There are so many Windows features that we overlook, but we can’t live without them. Context menu, also known as the right-click menu, is one of those features on any day. This menu makes it easy to manage files, apps, folders, everything else with ease.
However, if you have installed too many applications that interact with the system settings, you may end up having a pretty extensive context menu on Windows 10. While this is okay for some people, others may find a comprehensive context menu challenging to manage. In these instances, you will have to think about how to edit and customize the context menu in Windows 10.
In this article, we will tell you about two methods to customize the context menu in Windows 10. It doesn’t matter whether you are new to the OS; you can use one of these options. We have included only the easy-to-deploy options in the package so that anyone can have a context menu that they want.
About the Manual Method of Customizing the Context Menu
Unlike what people think, Windows is a pretty customizable Operating System. The OS even comes with an impressive utility that can help you make system-level changes: Windows Registry. Here is how it works. An application needs to make changes to the Windows Registry if it wants to display an option in the right-click menu of Windows 10. Following the same logic, you can remove the registry entries of the application when you don’t want its entry to be present on the context menu.
Here is the problem, though. This process of editing the context menu is lengthy and challenging. You should have a comprehensive idea of the Windows Registry and application structure to handle the system well. In addition to all these, even a small error in changing the registry would lead to severe consequences.
Because of these reasons, we don’t recommend the Windows Registry method to everyone. With that being said, you can check out this method if you are proficient with Windows OS and Registry. We must also warn you that the process takes quite a lot of time, especially when you have many entries in the context menu.
The Semi-Automatic Method to Edit the Context Menu in Windows 10
Here is an easier way to remove items from the context menu. Here is the logic behind this method. Things you see on the context menu belong to different applications and modules on your Windows 10 PC. So, by removing applications that you no longer need, you can clean up the context menu as well.
Of course, it works only when you are ready to sacrifice the entire app to customize the right-click menu. If that is not an option, you should check out the other methods we have listed below. Don’t worry; all of them are easy to execute.
The Easiest Methods to Edit the Context Menu in Windows 10
Here are some of the third-party applications that you can use to control what appears on the context menu of Windows 10.
#1 CCleaner
CCleaner, the popular maintenance tool for PC, Mac, and Android, comes with a powerful utility to customize the context menu. Of course, CCleaner approaches this part from the cleaning point of view. However, since it does not remove the apps responsible for the context menu entry, you don’t have to worry about losing data from the system.
Using the same interface, you can control which apps appear on startup. You also get to manage Windows processes and Scheduled Tasks that may slow down your computer in general. Just keep in mind that you’ll have to pay for some features in the package.
#2 Easy Context Menu
Easy Context Menu is a dedicated utility that can help you add, remove, and customize the elements on the right-click menu. While this is not as up-to-date as CCleaner, it gets the job done from the perspective. The tool can work seamlessly on Windows 10 as well. As you can guess, the Easy Context Menu works by editing the Registry, but you don’t have to lift the tough pointers.
Despite the simple design and availability, the Easy Context Menu interface consists of sub-categories. These options include the Desktop context menu, Drives context menu, Folder context menu, and EXE file context menu. You can add useful entries with ease as well.
#3 Right Click Enhancer
Here is another simple tool that can help you control almost everything about the right-click menu on your Windows PC. Once again, you get an impressive tool that comes with sub-categories and controls. Therefore, you wouldn’t have to think twice before adding a variable entry to the context menu. You can also make use of the powerful templates in the package.
Compared to Easy Context Menu, Right Click Enhancer is a more advanced option. At the same time, it does not fall generic, either. The problem here is that you will have to purchase the Professional or Business plan if you need advanced editing options.
Before We End
Depending on the depth of controls you need, you can choose any of the methods to edit the context menu on your Windows PC. At the same time, you should go for the Windows Registry editing options if you want to control each entry’s minute details.

Hello Johnny,
I think you need to reinstall your Acrobat reader to fix this issue.
