Technology And Toys And Education: How Each Piece of The Puzzle Fits

Author: Editorial Staff   Last updated on: January 18, 2023    1 Comment

Whatever the pessimists of this world think about where this world is leading, but the people who understand how the lives of common people have changed around the world know that as humans we have never been better.

The child mortality rates have dropped, the average age has gone up, more and more people are coming out of the poverty every day. No matter what which metric you choose, it will surely be better today than what it was 10-20 years back.

But, should we be satisfied with it? Obviously not! We have a long way to go, and if we want to accelerate this process, we need education as a tool in our hand.

Now think about it, in today’s scenario how many kids desire to become a teacher and if want to fill the gap of teachers in future we want more and more teachers in the system. But, the equation doesn’t fit.

Therefore, we need to take the support of technology and toys if we want to conquer this problem. The various governments around the world cannot provide good teachers in the remotest part of their country, but they can surely using digital boards to bring quality education to the classroom.

Similarly, the quality of education can be enhanced with quality toys that work on specific part of your personality. An electronic Snap Circuit set can teach a lot more to the kids than any book can possibly do.

Toys as an education tool

First of all, with such sets a kid is not only reading about different stuff, but he/she is literally doing it. And secondly, when you bring fun to the table, it becomes much easier to engage kids for a longer period of time.

It is not about just digital classroom, but technology can be used to provide the best level of education in the distant part of the world in variety of ways.

If we look at countries like India, the penetration of mobile and internet have grown multiple folds in the past few years. A person living in a village, which is cut off, from other regions of the countries and access YouTube and Google, and become his own teacher.

Similarly, the number of paid online course websites has boomed, and so has the number of consumers using them. You don’t have to live in a big city to pursue your education. You can do it sitting in your home.

However, when we talk about the really young kids, then more than YouTube videos and online courses, you need entertaining and productive toys to keep them engaged and focus, and you cannot find anything better to do that job than toys.

Even if you take a basic building block set, you cannot imagine how much it affects our brain in a positive way. From improving your building skills to your problem solving skills, it changes the way you think and approach problems.

If the government is able to provide on a small number of such productive and brain-enhancing toys in all the schools, the overall IQ of the upcoming generation will increase by leaps and bounds.

Similarly, more advanced toys that deal with complex topics of physics and chemistry can also be mass produced and distributed all the schools. These toys can never make up for a good teacher, but they will surely fill the gap between the education the kids get and the education they deserve to a certain extent.

Parents who cannot afford toys need not worry

Nowadays, various apps are also available that can be seen as the digital version of toys. If a parent cannot afford to buy different kind of toys for his/her kid, but she can surely download free apps on mobile. If you look at Google store you’ll find thousands of educational apps that are entertaining as well.

Although, replacing toys with the apps is not the most ideal thing to do, but something is better than nothing. And, if you have enough money in your pockets, then toys are better for variety of ways. First of all, we so many screens around us we need to make sure that we limit number of hours our kid spends in front of them. Otherwise, we are going to turn a boon, such as technology, into a curse.

The finishing words

If you think about it, education is not only the things to learn in a school, but it is overall experience you have from the time you are born till you die. There are 100’s of problems in this world that can be solved just by improving the education in the world using toys and technology. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that we can completely eradicate them, but we can certainly control them to a great extent.
