Author: Tushar Thakur   Last updated on: April 20, 2019    Leave a Comment

The advent of smartphones has changed the way we do many things. In fact, it is transforming the world faster than we ever imagined. It has changed the way we communicate, do business, and has even affected our lifestyle.

Smartphones changing the world

Gradually, it has taken an integral part of our daily life. Oh yes, it is now an essential commodity. Available statistics show the average American spends over 4 hours daily on their phones. But does this technological transformation has only positive sides? No, it also has some negative aspects.

Now let look at 5 Ways Smartphones Have Changed the World.

1) Easy Way of Doing Business

Some few decades ago, we had to rely on letters and computers when transacting business. You needed a computer to send and receive emails from business partners. But this has changed with the advent of smartphones.

Now, you can send, receive emails and do business anywhere. Smartphones have apps for almost everything. Pay your bills, do banking transactions, and send money with just a click on an app. Make your online shopping on eBay, Amazon, and Alibaba with a touch on a button. While doing business with your phone take time to read more on phone insurance.

2) Improved Communication

Technology advancement has improved communication. We evolved from sending smoke signals, to writing letters and to telegraph. Telegraph also gave birth to telephones, radio, cable television, Internet, and mobile phones. Smartphones have even made communication better. You can now send and receive messages at the speed of light. With instant messaging apps like Whatsapp, Viber, and Imo on your Android and iOS smartphone, you can send and receive messages faster.

3) Unlimited Entertainment

Cassettes and CDs are fading out because entertainment is now everywhere and digitized. When was the last time you saw a Walkman? Yeah, that age has passed. You can enjoy limitless songs and watch videos everywhere you are with your smartphone. With a 3G network, you can stream videos on YouTube and other platforms. You can also check on sites like Tubidy.com, iTunes, eMusic.com, for all your music needs.

That aside, you don’t need a PS4 before you can play a game. On Playstore or AppleStore, you can have access to countless of games on your phone.

4) Easy Access to Information

I became aware of the New Zealand Christchurch Mosque shooting while surfing on Facebook with a phone. Some years back, it would have taken days for the news to break worldwide. But with a phone, you can receive notifications from major news sites as the news break. You can also have easy access to information online being it for education or entertainment purposes.

5) Affecting our way of Socialization

The ugly side of smartphone pops up when you become addicted. Becoming addicted to your phone gradually isolates you from friends and loved ones. Some years back, we preferred making new friends wherever we go. But that has changed. Most people now prefer fidgeting with their phones with no regards to socialization.

Smartphones are great with lots of benefits. That notwithstanding, it also has its own ugly side. Many people die each day in accidents caused by smartphone usage. Its either the driver lost concentration because they were using their phone, or a pedestrian bumped into a car for the same reason. So while harnessing the benefits of smartphones, it’s also important to watch out on the dangers.
