Mobile phones, tablets, and other devices are becoming more advanced by the day. While they provide us with a host of useful features, many of us use them for entertainment as well. One trend that has been growing exponentially in recent years is mobile iGaming, meaning enjoyment in real money gambling on a mobile phone.
To find out more about the topic, we talked to industry insider Lukas Mollberg, author at Casinoble and an expert in all things relating to iGaming. We asked mister Mollberg to tell us more about the mobile iGaming trend and how it has been changing the iGaming world.
Hello Lukas and thanks for giving us a chance to talk about mobile iGaming with you. Please tell us, in your experience, how have the mobile technologies been impacting the iGaming industry?
Hello and thank you for having me on. Looking at iGaming as a whole, I can tell you that mobile devices are now the primary tools that players use to access online casinos, bookies, poker sites, and more. Whether they are playing for real money or for fun, players seem to enjoy taking their games on the go and they seem to prefer a smaller screen to the big one.
Mobile devices really seem to be dominating our lives these days. I feel like I always have my phone in my hand, even when I am not thinking about it. The social media are pulling us in and social iGaming is the first step for many players. It’s not a bad thing, but rather just a trend we have been setting.
So what kind of games can folks enjoy on their phones that fall into the iGaming category? Are these games just for fun or can they actually gamble on their phones?
iGaming developers and operators have been shifting their focus towards the mobile technologies significantly over the last decade. Today, most games that are launched are instantly available on mobile phones, with many of them only available on mobile apps.
Players can play both real money and play money games on their mobile devices. Numerous social iGaming platforms let players enjoy slots or card games without any risk at all, accumulating coins and playing for entertainment value only. On the other hand, real money operators also allow for real money gaming on mobile devices in jurisdictions where it’s legal.
Isn’t that a little scary? Gambling on your phone seems like it could quickly get out of hand? Are real money mobile iGaming operators safe or should people steer clear of this?
Real money gaming on mobile devices is regulated and legal in many countries. There isn’t really much of a difference between this or playing in a live setting. The big difference is, of course, that players can play at any time and any place, but they can also play for much lower stakes than they could in an actual casino.
The truth is that most players tend to play lower and win more often on mobile iGaming sites than they do in real money gambling atmospheres. Casinos cost a lot to run so they tend to try to maximize their edge over the players whenever possible. Mobile iGaming sites, on the other hand, often give players bonuses, free spins, and much more that alleviates the pressure and makes it easier to win and more enjoyable to play. If you have a problem with gambling, I would not recommend playing on mobile sites, but if you don’t there is no reason not to join the fun.
Thank you for the insights Lukas. We hope they will help some of our readers understand the phenomenon of mobile iGaming in a deeper way and perhaps we can talk again at a later date!
