Employee training is important for nearly all organizations in 2020.

But does the implementation always come easy? For a number of reasons, not all employees show interest in attending employee training programs. And then, sometimes, even after a good attendance rate, the results aren’t satisfactory.

In times like these, the idea of gamification always comes in handy.

However, it works only when implemented correctly. So, in this post, we are talking about how that can be done. Here are five tips for smartly gamifying your employee training process.

    1. Look For Gamification Ideas/Options

One simple way of gamifying your employee training program is by introducing points, scores, and other similar metrics. It’s a fact. This type of mild and healthy competition can take your employee training program places.

It can be a great motivator for your employees. Plus, they may get more and more chances of improving their performance.

But keep in mind that this is not the only way. Yes, you should make use of scores, but apart from that, explore other options as well. Even if you don’t try them all, do have a look so you know what all can be done.

    2. Be Clear About The Process Goals and Rules

Well, as you are planning to gamify your company’s employee training process, you might as well be looking forward to achieving something out of these efforts.

By identifying those goals and communicating them clearly with your learning team, your chances of success will go up. So, make sure you do that.

Plus, understand the need for talking to your learning team about the rules of the game that they must follow for fair competition and assessment.

Assure them that it’s for their good, and this trust in your training program will take your organization places.

    3. Create a Top Performer’s Section

Yes, it’s about encouraging all employees to perform better. And healthy competition is a smart way of doing that.

The idea is not to demotivate your underperforming employees but to encourage them to reach the top.

Creating a top performer’s section can be a good idea for this.

Remember how we used to compete for the first prize in school competitions? That was light and encouraging. The same way this top performer’s section can also work.

You can also ask the top performers for their tips regarding what helped them achieve the title. Surely, social learning can be useful to your brand.

    4. Include Desirable Rewards

The idea of gamification is a lot oriented around the rewards that you are offering to your learners (employees). For this reason, the need for offering desirable rewards crops up.

Think about it, what’s the point in offering a reward that nobody cares about winning or losing. The aim behind offering rewards is to get more employees to participate actively in the learning process and to try to perform better. If rewards have to be offered, they can’t be mediocre.

So, work on it. Offer rewards that are of interest to your employees.

    5. Acknowledge Everyone’s Efforts

One problem that a gamified employee training process may lead to is an imbalance of acknowledgment from the organization.

Gamified training programs usually highlight the top performers. Even in this article, we talked about the same. However, we also talked about how it’s important to make sure that this recognition doesn’t reach only the top performers.

The aim is to uplift all employees by working on their skills.

So, make sure you acknowledge everyone’s efforts and encourage each employee to do better.

Apart from all these tips, also note that you must pick the right authoring tool like iSpring suite. It’ll allow you to gamify your training process efficiently.

    Final Words

Gamification is a smart way of encouraging employees to engage better with the learning process. And in this post, we talked about how you can make the most out of it.

    Hopefully, this was helpful.
